O Overview of Career Placement: Pacific College offers placement assistance to all graduates. A 20-hour Career Development Seminar is offered to all students before entering their externship. In this seminar, students learn: · Job seeking skills · Resume Writing · Interviewing techniques · Filing an application While the College cannot guarantee employment or salary amounts, considerable effort is made to bring potential employers together with appropriately skilled graduates. Job placement assistance is provided at no cost to the graduate. O Work Environment: Vocational Nursing: Most LVNs are generalists and work in all areas of health care. However, some work in a specialized setting, such as a nursing home, a doctor’s office, or in home health care. LVNs in nursing care facilities help to evaluate residents’ needs, develop care plans, and supervise the care provided by nursing aides. In doctors’ offices and clinics, they may be responsible for making appointments, keeping records, and performing other clerical duties. LVNs who work in home health care may prepare meals and teach family members simple nursing tasks. Cardiovascular Technology: About 3 out of 4 jobs were in hospitals (public and private), primarily in cardiology departments. The remaining jobs were mostly in offices of physicians, including cardiologists, or in medical and diagnostic laboratories, including diagnostic imaging centers. Physical Medicine Assisting/ Massage Therapy: Physical medicine assistants work in a variety of settings. About 71 percent of jobs were in offices of physical therapists or in hospitals. Others worked primarily in nursing care facilities, offices of physicians, home health care services, and outpatient care centers.
